About Me Hi, my name is Nate and I'm the man behind Time Management Ninja. To me, time management is all about life management. For as long as I can remember I've always had a strong sense of the finiteness and impermanence of this life. Because of this, I'm constantly evaluating what I spend my time doing and how I can improve my time management by focusing more and more on activities that are in line with my personal goals and values. A lot of my time in recent years has been focused on creating systems to help me better manage my time. I don't believe that systems, schedules and task lists should overtake your life, but I do believe they help. The main benefit of time management is that it is a pro-active process. Too many of us live reactively and don't utilize our full talents. Time is wasted in the wrong jobs and wrong pursuits. I've struggled with this myself in my life. It is this quote by Steve Jobs in his 2005 commencement speech at Stanford that really changed the way I look at my life: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I'm about to do today?' I really try to ask myself this question often and if the answer is 'no' I take steps to change my current situation. About Time Management Ninja To me, time management relates to all aspects of our life. Managing our money, setting goals, creating systems to make our lives easier and discovering our passions are all a part of time management. Here are just a few of the things I believe in and promote on this site: - Overcoming our fears is a requirement if we want to change.
- A lot of the stress in our lives can be reduced if we get what we need to get done out of our heads and into a written system.
- We should all strive to simplify our lives. Closely evaluate how you spend your time and get rid of the unnecessary.
- Don't take life too seriously.
- Learn to live in the present moment. Change occurs NOW.
- Re-evaluate the role of money in your life and your attachment to it.
My goal is to provide advice, commentary, reviews and musings on all aspects time management related. I don't claim to have all the answers. What I do want to do is share my experiences and hopefully help out some people in the process. Come join me on my quest to become a Time Management Ninja!
